Abraham Akbar, M.D.
Abraham is the President and Founder of Lone Star Survival and serves as the Chair of our Board of Directors. He is an Emergency Medicine resident at Harvard / Mass General Brigham. He has been named the 2021 ACEP/EMRA National Outstanding Medical Student of the Year and has received the national Leadership in Emergency Medicine Award from SAEM in 2020. His interests include healthcare innovation, quality improvement, and global health.
Alexander Pop, M.D.
Alexander serves as the Vice Chair on the Board of Directors. He went to medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Medicine in Galveston, TX. He is currently a Lead Microprocess Technician at VGXI, a Plasmid DNA Manufacturing Biotechnology Company in Woodlands, TX. He’s a Sugar Land, TX native and has interests in medical engineering, biotechnology, and research.
Lindsay Wencel, M.D.
Lindsay is the Public Relations Chair on the Board of Directors. She is a resident in Emergency Medicine at Orlando Health in Florida. After residency, she plans to pursue a fellowship in Prehospital or Disaster Medicine.
Jomari Guerrero, M.D.
Jomari is an Emergency Medicine resident at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. He serves as the Logistics Chair and went to medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, TX. His interests include simulation and critical care.
Landry luker
Landry is a fourth year medical student at Baylor College of Medicine and a second year MBA student at Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Business. He now serves as the LSS Finance Chair. He originally began work with LSS as a local team leader in 2021 before serving as the LSS Associate Director from 2022-2024 and the LSS Executive Director from 2024-2025. Landry is applying to Emergency Medicine residency during the 2025-2026 application cycle and has interests in social EM, healthcare administration, and care in resource-limited spaces.
Theresa Q. Tran, M.D., M.b.A.
Theresa is the Director of the MD/MBA Dual Degree Program as well as an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. She serves as the Board of Directors Faculty Advisor. Theresa received her M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine, her M.B.A from Rice University, and completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
